MASTER INSTRUCTOR COURSE DESCRIPTION

The curriculum involves 1000 hours of Master Instructor  to satisfy Oklahoma state requirements. The course educates prospective master instructors to address the needs of students in the classroom and the clinic floor. Prospective teachers learn to utilize a system of forward-focused thinking and front-end coaching. By learning the methods of teaching cosmetology, the prospective teachers learn to engage students in the learning process and stimulate the discovery process with visuals, music, and/or hands-on activities.

Graduates are prepared to be entry level instructors.

This course is taught in English. Textbooks and course materials are only offered in the English Language.

MASTER INSTRUCTOR COURSE OVERVIEW

Course Hours: 1000 clock hours

The master instructor course is divided into three designations: Postgraduate Training, Psychology and Methodology, and Student Teaching.

  1. Instructional Methods: Students are guided through the 1000 hour curriculum by Learning Leaders using various instructional methods including, but not limited to, on-site education, hands-on education, lectures, digital textbooks, videos, digital applications, digital handouts, study guides, the use of doll heads, the clinic classroom floor, mini classes, apps, and online education. Distance learning may be incorporated as necessary utilizing methods and tools such as Pivot Point, Google Classrooms, Zoom, Live Online Classes, Pre-recorded Classes, and Notability.
  2. Distance Education Learning Experience: Students enrolled in the program with distance education will complete a portion of their education through online learning . The distance education learning experience is not an option for students using VA education benefits .

MASTER INSTRUCTOR COURSE OUTLINE

Our master instructor course is also divided into three designations:

  1. Postgraduate Training: This section is a refresher on cosmetology skills, where our students will complete worksheets and take cosmetology written exams.
  2. Psychology and Methodology: These classes focus on the theory of teaching, using Milady’s Master Educator textbook, including weekly tests.
  3. Student Teaching: Our instructor students will learn to write lesson plans and do actual teaching from those lesson plans . Teaching skills will be evaluated and developed.

The institution offers employment assistance to help graduates’ efforts to secure education-related employment that includes, but is not limited to training in professionalism, resume’ development, job interview preparation and job search skills.

Distance Education hours and assignments are graded and recorded daily. Theory chapter exams, final exams and final practical evaluations must completed in the school facility.

MASTER INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM TESTING AND GRADING PROCEDURE

The following tests and grading procedures are used to assess student learning and mastery of course content in the 1000-hour course:

  1. Students must receive a grade of 70% or higher on each theory exam (for 1000 hour course only). Theory exams cover a review of Milady’s Master Educator Student Course Book. Depending on the length of the module, theory exams will occur weekly or bi-monthly, within the 10% of distance education hours. The theory exams will evaluate the student’s academic performance for each subject of the distance education curriculum.
  2. Students must receive 70% or higher on each final exam; final exams cover a complete overview of Milady’s Master Educator Student Course Book. Final Exams must be completed within the school facility and cannot be taken through distance education.
  3. Clinic Practical Skill Assessments: Future Professionals progress in practical skill assessments and theory hours will be digitally monitored on a weekly basis by the Future Professional Advisor using the Course Key app. All assigned practical skill assessments must be completed in order to complete the program.
  4. Distance education assessments: Students must complete a distance education written assessment and practical skill assessment. These are based on performance and must be completed on-campus each month . The distance education assessment will focus on the distance education subjects covered during that time period. Students must receive a grade of 70% or higher on each distance education written assessment and each practical skill assessment. Only students enrolled in the distance education program are required to complete these assessments.
